Dream Well
Aotearoa NZDream Well
Most dreams don't fail. They just never start.
Dream Well is a touring public artwork that turns a wishing well into a contract you can hold. Drop a coin. Type your dream. Take the receipt.
The Dream Receipt is not a ticket. It is printed on thick stock with clean typography, designed to be kept. It is the first proof you began.
Six months later, return and submit a record of progress. Any record. A sentence, a screenshot, a certificate, a dated note. The system does not judge the quality. It simply requires a return.
Your dollar comes back. Or you leave it in the well, the partner match pool doubles it, and it seeds someone else's start. Unredeemed deposits flow into the Dream Fund and are distributed as micro-grants through an independent panel.
Private aspiration becomes a public loop. Hope, contract, action, return, reclaim or pass on.
The well stores nothing by default. Your dream lives only on paper unless you choose otherwise. Dream Well is designed to tour through bank foyers, civic lobbies, and high-footfall indoor spaces, underwritten by a host partner whose brand sits custodially alongside the work, never above it.
Rather than fundraising disguised as art. it's an artwork that uses money as material to ask a cultural question: what happens when hope is treated like a contract.
